Always guaranteed to be something to do in the city of Kirkland, it is often times recognized for its unique downtown waterfront area alongside Lake Washington. The city contains many restaurants, art galleries, public parks, and a 400 seat performing arts center and is also nearby the well-known companies of Microsoft and Google.
Kirkland is accessible by Interstate 405 and connects it with cities like Bellevue, Renton and Bothell. Not only is Kirkland part of the Lake Washington School District, but it also is home to Lake Washington Technical College and Northwest University. When the last census was conducted, Kirkland was ranked the 12th largest city in the state.
Home of the Seattle Seahawks up until 2008, Kirkland was also where the initial headquarters of Costco was located. Recognized for obtaining the first woolen mill in the state back in 1892, Kirkland is also still occupied by three buildings that are considered to be city landmarks, which date back as far as the late early 1890s and early 1920s.
